We have a strong background in creative fiber crafting, with over forty years of hands-on, multigenerational training in crocheting, knitting, sewing, needlework, beading and weaving. Design education began with exposure to the New York garment industry’s millinery segment, and our garment construction and tailoring experience lends itself to the form, fit, and function of each treasure we create.
Whenever possible, we use sustainable fibers, acquired from local mohair, alpaca, wool farms, as well as using commercially purchased bamboo. Because some individuals develop allergies to natural fibers, commercially created synthetics and blends are often incorporated into designs such as baby products (for their heirloom quality, or “wash and wear” fibers for ease of care).
Color blending is important to us. That's why we select fiber combinations and novelty threads that will create just the right shade and look to flatter all skin tones and age groups. Our customers range from infants, to retired seniors. But no matter their age or personal style, our customers are always concerned with quality and value.
Creative Fiber Designs offers scarves, shawls , throws, sweaters, hats, and more, for both warmth and style. Products are crafted for women, children and men. Custom orders are always welcome, provided we have the time to meet customer requests.
All designs are handcrafted the old fashioned way...with knitting needles, crochet hooks and embroidery / beading needles! Our felted hats are well supervised during the washing process. The only automation here is the agitation of the washing machine.
Community participation has always been a high priority for Creative Fiber Designs. Each year we contribute our designs to several Brandon organizations for fundraising activities, including:
• Brandon Town Auction benefiting the Chamber of Commerce
• Brandon Free Public Library, the Brandon Town Hall Restoration
• Brandon Town players community theatre group, and others.
We have also been honored with design and construction awards at the Addison County Field Days Fair, which included Best of Show for our felted hats and crochet work.
